USSEL, 13. -- THE GENDARMES OF THE BUGEAT BRIGADE, HEARING THIS MORNING THROUGH PUBLIC RUMOR THAT A FARMER FROM THE HAMLET OF MOURIERAS, IN THE COMMUNE OF BUGEAT (CORREZE), MR. ANTOINE MAZAUD, WAS BOASTING ABOUT HAVING SPOKEN WITH A "FLYING SAUCER" PASSENGER, WENT TO HIM TO GET CONFIRMATION OF THESE REPORTS.
Mazaud told them that on September 10 at 8:30 p.m., while returning from his fields, he encountered an unknown individual on a path about 1,500 meters from his home. The person was of average height, wearing a helmet without ear flaps, shook his hand and kissed him while uttering unintelligible words.
The man then climbed into a cigar-shaped craft, unlit, about three to four meters long, which took off vertically and flew westward, making no more noise than a bee.
Mr. Mazaud then stated that he had not wanted to speak of the incident because he feared being ridiculed. However, he told his wife, who in turn shared it with neighbors, and this is how the gendarmes found out.
The gendarmerie lieutenant in command of the section went to the location, but no traces were found there.
