The passenger of a flying "saucer" asks a worker from Saint-Rémy for the time

EPINAL. — A worker from Saint-Rémy (Vosges), Mr. Jean Ujvani [sic], told the gendarmes of Raon-L'Étape yesterday that last Wednesday, around 3 a.m., as he was on his way to work, he was stopped on the road by a stocky, medium-height stranger wearing a gray jacket with shiny insignias on the shoulders. The man spoke an unknown language.

Mr. Ujvani, who is of Czech nationality, tried speaking Russian just in case; the stranger understood perfectly: "Where am I?" he asked. "In Italy or in Spain?" He then inquired about the distance to the German border, and finally asked for the time. When the worker told him it was 2:30, the man pulled out a watch from his jacket that showed 4 o’clock.

He ordered the worker to walk ahead. Soon, Ujvani saw in the middle of the road a craft shaped like two saucers placed rim to rim [sic]. When he got within about thirty meters of the craft, which was approximately 1.5 meters tall and 2.5 meters wide, the stranger told him to step back. But glancing back from time to time, Mr. Ujvani was able to see the craft slowly rise vertically with a sound like sewing machines. Once it reached an altitude of about 500 meters, it picked up speed and disappeared heading south.
