Summary:

A ufology catalog of 1982 citing the regional newspaper Le Bien Public, of Dijon, for January 13, 1954, indicates that a few days before December 9, 1954, in Dole, Mr. Roger Bouhan, who was leaning at a window in his apartment, in the evening, saw a fireball for a few seconds.

In 2025, I found this referenced newspaper article and noted that it also stated: "Was it the same meteor that passed over the nearby localities? It is possible."

Flying saucers reportedly seen in Dole

On Saturday morning, several residents of Dole saw a large fireball in the sky that seemed to skim the rooftops and disappeared before their eyes in record time. Those with the best view were the vendors in the Place Nationale, who spread the news. But already, a few days earlier, Mr. Roger Bouhan, who was leaning against the window of his apartment in the evening, saw the same fireball for a few seconds. Was it the same meteor that passed over the nearby localities? It is possible.

Meanwhile, Miss Jeanne Perrin, who lives on Rue des Noches, confirmed to us: "Saturday morning, January 9, at 7:50 a.m., while cycling to work, my attention was drawn to the sky by a light. I saw a huge star, the size of an orange, shooting from north to south. It had a luminous, sparkling tail, short—25 to 30 centimeters—narrow at the star's base, widening outward and appearing to be made up of countless tiny rainbow-colored stars. It didn't seem very high in the sky. I saw it for five to seven seconds."

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13: FLYING SAUCERS HAVE BEEN SEEN IN DOLE -

Saturday morning, several residents of Dôle saw in the sky, a large ball of fire that seemed to graze the roofs and disappeared in record time from their eyes. The best placed were the merchants who were on the national square and who spread the news. But already, a few days earlier, Mr. Roger Bouhan, who was leaning on a window of his apartment, in the evening, saw the same fireball. For a few seconds. Is it the same meteor that crossed the neighboring localities? We can suppose it. On the other hand, Miss Jeanne Perrin residing rue des Noches, confirms to us: "Saturday morning January 9 at 7:50 a.m., going to work on my bicycle, my eyes were drawn to the sky by a light. I saw a huge star, big like an orange that raced north-south, it had a luminous, sparkling, short tail, 25 to 30cm, narrow on the side of the star, widening and seeming formed of multitudes of small stars with rainbow colors. Not very high in the sky. I saw it for 5 to 7 seconds."

The source is given as the newspaper Le Bien Public.

Explanations:

The data is very meager; however, if the description is the same as that of the January 9, 1954, meteor, then it was likely also a meteor.
